Organization

Founded in 2011, under the legal regulations of Chicago, IL, under the leadership of Vincentian priest Guillermo Campuzano Vélez, Vice President of Mission and Ministry at DePaul University, with a group of women committed to humanitarian aid and service.

This non-profit organization, Codo a Codo International, supports Codo a Codo in Colombia and is committed to reintegrating and dignifying the lives of thousands of families who make up a community of people displaced by violence and extreme poverty, who live in Altos de la Florida, near the city of Bogotá.

Codo a Codo Colombia and Codo a Codo International are equally interested in guiding these groups toward peace, harmony, and personal growth through the development of different study programs and various activities, where they can prepare themselves, discover their skills, great abilities, and thus be a useful and integral part of the larger social community.

Today, the achievements of many of them are put to service within their community, which allows us to see how fruitful solidarity directed toward the common good can be and how much there is to do for those who are poor, lacking, and less favored within the society they inhabit, preventing their paths from deviating toward vice, vandalism, and begging

  • 3,500 Families supported and guided toward common good
  • 9,000 Children participating in different programs

Our history

History of Codo a Codo Colombia

Since its founding in May 2004 by Sister Norma Ines Bernal Vélez, Codo a Codo has implemented a strategy of sustained growth, appealing to human generosity and establishing partnerships at regional, national, and international levels, whose results over the years reflect the social strengthening of communities, from the empowerment of new generations to the expansion of solidarity support among families, women, and the elderly.
